Hi Everyone,

Corey continues to express her feelings and tonight it was perfectly clear “she’s had it”! She was very uncomfortable for the better part of the night. I tried everything to lighten her mood.

We skyped her cousin Christy. Christy’s son Tommy couldn’t wait to show Corey all his toys, his new play dough box and they even made Balloon animals…actually a sword. While speaking with Christy, we received a “call waiting” notification from Katie in London. Katie caught us up on all the adventures of Meghan and Liam. Just as we finished our call, Sue came to visit from the candy store. Sue hasn’t seen Corey in a few months (she’s been a little busy preparing all the candy for the Easter Bunny and handling Mother’s Day orders…PS – she’s the real Easter Bunny!) Sue filled Corey in on all the candy store gossip. Sue managed to get a few smiles from Corey as she shared the adventures of the candy girls.

I’m not sure what the cause of Corey’s discomfort was this evening. She seemed engaged in our conversations but it appeared that as stories were shared, she would turn her head to the left to break from the conversation.

Corey I wonder if sometimes you are sad or frustrated that life is going on and you’re not part of it. As difficult as this is to consider or acknowledge, it is a positive step. I’m sure you’re thinking how can this be positive? It is because what you’re thinking and how you’re reacting to your feelings tell me that you are more aware of your surroundings and conversations than ever before. It’s okay to be frustrated, uncomfortable and angry. There are days most people just want to say, “I don’t want to be a grown up today”. There are days most “kids” just want to say, “I don’t want to go to school today”. It’s normal! However, please don’t forget; Giving up is not an option. You have every reason to keep going.

We talked last night about Johnson & Wales. Remember my question? Do you still want to go to cooking school? You had an immediate and firm thumb up! I promised you that we will do whatever we have to help you get there kiddo. When you are ready to quit or feel you don’t want to push forward, I want you to refuse to cooperate with your emotions. No matter what happens in the outside world, your spirit and your mind are what will keep you focused and balanced. Use them to your benefit. Use them to move past your frustrations. Use them to turn negative situations into positive energy. You have always had a way of being incredibly effective. You wouldn’t quit until you got the results you desired…no matter what the obstacles that came your way. This is no different Corey. Take the time to feel your feelings but then lean on that impenetrable spirit and intelligent mind. They give you your core strength to achieve whatever you decide to try next…You’ve got this Corey! Just like that little engine, you’re pushing uphill and gaining ground everyday!

Aunt Diane sent me a joke that reminds me of you ~ Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says ~ “Oh Crap, She’s up!”
Happy dreams Corey, xoxo
