Hi Everyone,

We have begun to interview Home Healthcare Agencies. One agency came out to Bryn Mawr to meet Corey and me tonight. This is the next step to preparing for the imminent discharge and our next step. I have two more agencies lined up next week as well.

Interviewing companies is an interesting experience. As I go through each step of this recovery with Corey, I’m convinced that one of the first tasks I need to dedicate my time to is a “How To” list with a flow chart for the families to maneuver the maze of Insurance and Medicaid! A survival guide so to speak. In addition to this there needs to be thought starters and interview questions to help guide us through this interview stage. There has got to be a better way to communicate with families. I am convinced that the medical system is set up to exhaust the members so we just give up and figure it out for ourselves. If we do that, the insurance world saves money. Surviving this recovery is more devastating that the accident itself! The good news is the two representatives were amazingly helpful and supportive. They were thorough and initiating conversation with Corey, as well as answering questions I didn’t even know I had!
When our visit was finished, I felt better educated and prepared to meet the subsequent agencies so we can make the best decision possible for Corey’s homecare.

That being said, I am still fighting and pushing to get more time at Bryn Mawr. There hasn’t been a denial yet and at the moment, I don’t have a discharge date. Corey is maintaining her CRS score between 16-18. She has been a bit more inconsistent with her responses however, we are noticing that she’s also inconsistent with certain therapists…she’s showing a little attitude! (How unlike her!)

We are looking forward to our Cook for Corey breakfast tomorrow. My sister Diane came in for the event, Caitlin and JohnPaul will both be there as well. I can’t wait to tell Corey all about it tomorrow afternoon. For those of you who live close, if you can make it, we’ll have plenty of pancakes and sausage. For those of you who are out of town, I promise I will remember my camera and post some pictures! I’m going to try to sleep; 5am comes quick…we’ll be cooking, prepping and setting up. I certainly don’t want to be sleepin’ on the job burning any sausage! Happy dreams, xoxo
